“A
superb place to stop-over: a home from home”

Worcester, United Kingdom
July 26, 2010

My
wife and I wanted to stay overnight near the ferry terminal en route
to the West of Ireland.

We were met and greeted like private guests by Austin and found the
home (I can't call it a hotel or B&B) very, very comfortable.
We met
Patricia later and she shared many stories with us.

The gardens were alive with birds and it was a bonus to hear Austin
describe the birds almost as personal friends!

We would not hesitate to stay in this house again. And we hope that
the two hosts will have the gift of eternal life!

A more warn welcome your couldn't wish for and nothing was to much
trouble.

We booked a Double Deluxe with en-suite bath/shower - and the room was
superb. Light and Airy - excellent sitting room area within
the
bedroom - Very Comfortable Bed (even my 6' 5" husband fitted easily!)
- with option of a tea tray in your room if you wish.

The fitments and decoration of the house and its gardens were
exceptional - if you love period properties you will not be
disappointed.

The breakfasts are well prepared and there is more than enough choice
to suit every taste - it will certainly set you up for the day.

Highly recommend and looking forward to making a return visit!

“B&B
Second To None”

Naples, Florida
June 24, 2010

My husband and I stayed
at Churchtown House 3 nights after arriving from England on the ferry.
This will be our second trip through
the Rosslare area and our
impression of this B&B (Country House) is that it rates as one of the
best. It is a very professionally run
establishment. The hosts Austin
and Patricia gave us a warm welcome and attended to our every need.
Other reviewers mentioned
there were no tea/coffee in room. Their web
site states that they would be provided upon request. Within 2 minutes
of making our
request we had it.
Breakfast was very good and the breakfast room is bright and has
lovely views of the garden and grounds.
My only disappointment if I could honestly say I had one was the
inability to get a Wi-Fi connection in the room. The lounge however
had a signal if required.
We will be returning to Churchtown House after a run to the West Coast
of Ireland. For a place to stay after going to or from the
ferry or
even to have a special stay in the country, you cannot beat this
place.

“Second
stay and service and hospitality remain outstanding”

Orpington
August 2009

Stayed at Churchtown House for the second time for a week in July
2009. Austin and Patricia Cody are both wonderful hosts, the
food is
excellent and the service, cleanliness and attention to detail remain
first class. Waitresses and domestic staff all extremely
pleasant and
attentive to our needs.

The hotel is beautiful, steeped in history, standing in idyllic
picturesque grounds. The environment is so serene with well maintained
gardens and each morning the only sounds that you will hear are the
birds singing in the trees. Ideally situated with Rosslare port
only
five minutes away.
This hotel deserves a five star rating due to the high standards
maintained by two most lovely professional people. Cant wait to go
back !!

“Fantastic Find”

Jul 17, 2008

Very
pretty and easy to find with comfortable large rooms. Best thing though is how
close it is to the ferry. Nice to arrive in Ireland
and stay somewhere
genuinely peaceful without having to drive any distance. Friendly owner
recommended a few places to eat out.
The lobster pot had excellent restaurant
quality food at restaurant prices, despite looking like a pub from the
outside. Breakfast was
filling, tasty and hot.

“Best in Rosslare”

May 27, 2008

Friendly host, huge room
and good breakfast.
This would have been ideal for a longer stay but we were only passing
thro. A little more expensive than elsewhere but it was great
to have such a nice spot to stay after the ferry to Rosslare and before
driving all the way to Killarney.

“Great Hotel”

May 21, 2008

Lovely hotel in quiet
location in large grounds, only 5 minutes drive from the Ferryport at
Rosslare.
We were allocated the principal first floor front room, which was
very spacious and well appointed.
Creeky floorboards are to be expected in a 18th century building. The loo was
great with a full length window overlooking the car
park and grounds, but it
did have a blind if you were modest!
Great and substantial breakfast. Welcoming hosts, what more could you ask. Wish
we could have stayed longer but we were driving
all the way to Galway the next
day.
“Wonderful anniversary break!!”

Oct 20, 2007

Had a fantastic surprise
anniversary break at Churchtown House.
My husband booked us in and I really enjoyed my break there. We had a
wonderful dinner on our 1st night and slept extremely well in
our very
spacious bedroom. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for a days touring. We
visited nearby Carne beach which we loved
and plan to return in the future
when we plan to visit johnstown castle gardens. All in all a wonderful
anniversary!!

“Absolute Perfection!”

Jul 22, 2007

My husband and I have
just spent 2 nights (@July 2007) at the very beautiful Churchtown House.
We
were made very welcome by Austin and Patricia Cody, who are excellent hosts.
The accommodation was first class and so was
breakfast!

We were sorry we couldn't avail of the evening meals during our stay due to
other commitments, but next time we will!!

I would strongly recommend Churchtown House to anyone looking for a base in
the Wexford/Rosslare area. This is a very special
house which offers so much
in terms of its lovely surroundings and gorgeous provision for guests, yet at
very good value.

I can honestly say that Churchtown House was actually the nicest place I have
ever stayed in. It is the perfect example of how
guest accommodation should be
run and I would have no hesitation recommending it! (& I can't wait to go
back!)

“Wonderful”

Jun 4, 2007

We stayed for one night
in May '07, coming over on the ferry from Pembroke. A very friendly welcome,
lovely spacious room with
views over the fantastic garden. Breakfast was very
generous to say the least! A lovely haven after the bustle of the journey, I
wish
our stay had been much longer! |
“Peace &
Quiet for the weary parents”
Apr 30, 2007

Churchtown House is a
perfect haven for weekend breaks for parents who need a chance to re-charge
their batteries. It is
wonderfully simple B&B that serves wonderful evening
meals. Austin (the owner) makes sure you are happy and relaxed. The dinner
we
had costed €39 each + €20 for a lovely bottle of wine - you would have to
search long and hard to get value like. |

“Very beautiful place!”

We stay for only one
night (13 august 2006)
We were welcomed from a from a Miss. who has offered the and biscuit in a
beautiful drawing-room. Accommodation was very most
comfortable. The rooms is
spacious and were furnished with beautiful age furnitures. The breakfast has
been excellent.
This is one true Irish Manor House!

“Wonderful stay”

We stayed for one night
at the start of our holiday, 28July 2006 and again at the end a fortnight
later. On both occasions we were
welcomed at the door and on hearing that our
return journey from Cork had been long and arduous were offered a cup of tea
which
was gratefully accepted and served in the comfort of the Garden Room.
Accommodation was first class and most comfortable. Our friends who are
somewhat disabled were provided with the same ground
floor room both times.
Pre dinner sherry and after dinner coffee, served in the Garden Room, was a
really nice touch.
Both evening meals were superb, not too much and not too little. Perfectly
cooked and presented and contrary to a previous
contributor's comment at
39Euros certainly not "London Prices" nor expensive for a four course meal
with sherry and coffee included!!
The full Irish Breakfast, even served at an especially early time on our
latter visit, was delicious. No need for lunch after that!!
Our only negative comment would be that tea and coffee making facilities are
not provided in bedrooms. However this appears to be
generally the case in
Ireland and is something the industry should address.
Congratulations to Austin & Patricia Cody and Staff and thanks for a great
stay. |

“Short but sweet”

Jul 21, 2006

We only stayed at
Churchtown House for one night after suffering a horrible ferry journey over
from Wales. The house and grounds
were very pretty and our room was
comfortable with a nice view over the gardens. The lounge looked very inviting
and we would
have liked to sit there on arrival and relax with a drink,
unfortunately the bad weather meant we were late arriving and were too
tired.
Even though we didn't get there till after 9pm, we had a warm welcome - I had
previously emailed the hotel to check if it was
OK to turn up in the late
evening, and they offered to provide us with a late supper, which was a nice
touch. There was a good
choice for breakfast, and again there were pleasant
views over the gardens. The rate we obtained from the hotel's website was very
reasonable. Based on such a short stay, we would definitely recommend
Churchtown House and would stay there again if we got the
ferry to Rosslare.
